If you’re starting a new clothing business or continuing one but want to raise your revenue, there are many options to increase your profits. Amazingly, many of these options aren’t that hard or expensive.
Six ways to increase revenue for your clothing business are to: Increase Your Online Presence, Increase Your Offline Presence, Offer Bundles, Do A Marketing Campaign, Reuse Some Old Designs, Look for Overlooked Markets.
Increase Your Online Presence

In today’s fashion world an excellent online presence is essential. This means having an active and positive social media presence. You can use it to promote your products and engage with your customers. Of course, you should look into what social media pages your target demographics are using. Older people use Facebook more while younger people are using TikTok more. Though they use Youtube in roughly the same numbers. Instagram is also a good target for a fashion business’ online presence as people of all demographics use it and you can post full-length pictures and videos.
Of course, upping your social media game is only part of improving your online presence. Social media links should lead to your website where you can buy the products you are selling. Some people try to rely on Etsy or Amazon for their online presence. This is a mistake. It’s too easy for your products to get lost in the shuffle of the big websites with lots of competition. Plus, these big sites only let you do so much customization. Having your own website allows you to run it your way and make it unique.
If you have a physical location, you should always check to make sure your information on the Google search, such as your address, phone number, and operating hours are correct and to change those things as needed.

Good Web Design
This isn’t to say you should put just anything on your website. Your website should be easy to use. Users want your products to be easy to access and pictures should be prominent and easily seen. Make sure your website is easy to read. The colors of your background and texts should not clash. Don’t have an overabundance of things going on (like auto-playing videos). It will slow down the loading time of the website and make it harder to use. For a lot of people, websites that are hard to use are a big turn-off. There are more detailed articles on good web design out there but as a general rule, if it annoys you, it probably annoys the rest of your potential customers. It may be beneficial to hire a professional web designer as part of your team. It may also be helpful to re-evaluate your website every so often.
Increase Your Offline Presence

While you have to do a lot of Internet management to run your business, you also have to manage your offline presence. This can be done in various ways. As a small business owner, your priority should be to integrate yourself with your local community. Promote your products through fliers or newspaper ads. Sponsor a popular community cause (cancer charities for example). Rally around a local sports team. This will make the people in your community see you and your business as one of them.
Make sure that your clothing and accessories feature your logo in some fashion. While you should encourage your customers to leave reviews on various websites, the best endorsement the people who live in your area will see is to see people wearing your clothes. You want people to see your logo on someone’s clothes and recognize it when they come to your boutique or shop online.
There are other options if you don’t have a permanent brick-and-mortar location. Street fares and other events are good offline locations. While they are temporary, it’s relatively inexpensive to get a vendor permit and you’ll get a good amount of traffic. People come to those types of events looking for something to buy. Granted, this works with some types of clothing more than others but it’s good to think outside the website.
If you have the opportunity to set up a temporary offline location, it’s a good opportunity to promote your online location. Give fliers to customers pointing them to your website to go with their purchase. That way, if they like your clothes, they can buy them from the comfort of their home.
Offer Bundles
Sometimes, it can be beneficial to offer bundles. If you sell things besides clothes, you can offer to bundle one of the non-clothing items to go with your clothes. If you sell purses and dresses, consider selling them together as a bundle. Women often try to color-coordinate these sorts of things. Use that to your advantage.
Sometimes, people like to match each other. Consider selling mother-daughter or father-son bundles depending on what market you’re catering to. A good time to do this would be around Mother’s or Father’s Day.
These are some ideas. Be creative and always look for new ways to add bundles.

Do A Marketing Campaign
If you feel like your revenues aren’t what they should be or that they’ve dropped off, try doing a marketing campaign. Part of the reason sales might drop off after a while is that your brand fades from the public consciousness. People need to know that you’re still in business and are still offering something to them.

While the community involvement steps listed above are a good place to start with any new marketing campaign, there are other marketing campaigns. Your first priority is to spread the word about your clothes. Show models wearing them. Preferably models in the demographic you’re aiming for. Have some Instagram influencers show them. If your clothes have specialized functions (think work clothes). Use your social media page to create and further spread your ad campaign.
Another option is to partner with local famous people. People in your local community will like seeing your clothing on someone who they know and trust. It doesn’t have to be anything like sports stars. It could be anyone well-known. If you’re marketing to a specific group, get someone famous from that group. This is one of the benefits of being active in your local community. You can make these sorts of connections that can help in your marketing efforts.
You can coordinate with other small businesses in your community. For example, if you sell work clothes, you can see if you can put up fliers in your local hardware store. In return, you can advertise the hardware store’s wares. Such an approach is best used with other small businesses rather than big chain stores.
Reuse Some Old Designs
If your business has been around for a while, it might be a good idea to reuse some old designs. This can save you a significant amount of time on designing. Plus, it can help you attract new customers who may have missed out on your earlier clothing lines. You can market these re-issues as “special editions” or some other term to make the re-issue seem special.
You don’t need to reissue an entire clothing line. Sometimes, it’s best to just re-issue the best-selling items. You should look at the profit margins for each of your clothing lines. Look for the things that are the most popular and have the best profit margins. Call it your “Best Of” collection. This will help you get new customers by showing off your best and most popular designs.
You can update them to fit with modern trends or add a feature that wasn’t there before. Look at customer feedback on your old designs to see what was missing. It may just be as simple as adding new color variations.
Look for Overlooked Markets

When trying to raise revenue, it may be helpful to look for markets that have historically been overlooked by the fashion industry. Consider plus-size clothing. There are a lot of plus-sized people in America. Some estimates say that woman’s plus-sized clothing accounts for $17.5 billion in sales in the U.S. Some people are smaller-sized and are often overlooked by traditional markets too. Instead of designing entire new clothing lines, consider using your existing designs and changing your sizes.
You can also look into designing your clothes for people who might have fine-motor-skill impairments (the elderly and disabled). This will show that you’re being inclusive (which will help your marketing efforts) and open up whole new markets and revenue opportunities.
